Dr. Armstrong was born and raised in Bloomington-Normal and is a graduate of Normal Community West High School. After obtaining his undergrad degree at Illinois State University, he went on to complete ten years of extensive orthopedic training. Armstrong joined Carle MCO in 2014 as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He treats all orthopedic conditions but specializes in complex and primary hip and knee arthroplasty.

His research has been published in multiple academic journals and has been presented at regional and national conferences. He is also the author of a textbook chapter on total knee arthroplasty and is also a peer reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty. Dr. Armstrong is assisted by nurse Mikhayla Hutcherson.

Before being a physician at Carle MCO, he worked there for five years as a tech. He knew once he completed his training that he would want to come back. He returned because of the valuable life-long friendships he developed with the physicians and other staff members and the quality of care they provide as a team. When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Armstrong enjoys staying active with outdoor activities as well as participating in and watching sports. He is also an avid reader, golfer, enjoys traveling, and Illinois State University Redbird Basketball and Football.
